I totally understand the concept that 50 is the new 30. But, Snoop Dogg the new Benny Hill? Afraid I don’t get that one. Several comments from the man, himself, during an interview recently with the Observer would lead you to believe he truly wants to give this a shot. Supposedly, he’s such a big fan that he want’s to play the comedian in a movie. Snoop elaborated by saying, “…I love Benny Hill. He’s one of my favourites of all time. Like, the way Benny did it, he was just amazing. Just seeing how he put songs together and comedy and the timing and the sketches. He was way ahead of his time.”
Hill, who began his hit Thames Television series in 1951 were it ran for and unbelievable 40 years, ending May 1991, was a master of slapstick, burlesque and double entendre. Maybe this Snoop Dogg thing isn’t so crazy after all.
Not only did Snoop reiterate that one of his childhood dreams was to be on The Benny Hill Show, but also secretly admitted to liking Coronation Street. Who knows what might be next?
