This just in! Masterpiece and PBS have announced that the long-awaited second set of the Steven Moffat, Mark Gatiss bit of BAFTA award-winning brilliance, Sherlock 2. will premiere on PBS stations nationwide beginning Sunday, May 6, 2012 and running for three consecutive Sundays. For those that may not be aware, there are three, 90-minute programs that comprise the second set of the award-winning, audience mega-hit from 2010, which just took home top honors for Best New Drama at the UK TV Choice Awards.

As has been widely reported, the three are on their way to the small screen in early 2012 in the UK and, now confirmed for a Sunday, May 6, 2012 premiere on PBS (including KERA) in the States. The three stories are A Scandal in Belgravia, Hounds of the Baskerville and Reichenbach Falls.

    is it May 6th yet?

    • @Russell: I take solace in the fact that every day I ask the same question is one day closer to May 6. Hang in there!

Why such a long with for both countries? When I first came across the show on PBS, it caught my interest.

For two reasons. The first being I had seen the movie with Jude Law and Robert Downey Jr. and the other because it was set in modern times and I never cared for any Sherlock series in the past.

May 6, will be here soon enough and in the meantime, I can watch Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows, starting December 16. That should tide me over for now. 🙂
