The British Invasion at the 64th Annual Emmy Awards

You just thought the British Invasion referred to the mid-60’s takeover of the U.S. by both British music and pop culture. Not to take anything away from the likes of The Beatles, Dusty Springfield, The Animals, The Troggs, Dave Clark 5, Herman’s Hermits and The Rolling Stones, but the real British Invasion happens in Los Angeles tonight. Tonight marks the 64th annual Emmy Awards, hosted by Jimmy Kimmel. It also marks the night, hopefully, for a very strong showing for British television in the U.S. as several British series and a number of individuals on both sides of the camera are nominated for the chance to take home a coveted Television Emmy Award statuette.

In true ‘you need a scorecard to tell all the players’, here are the nominees from the UK. There’s going to be some stiff competition this year but, as they say, it’s enough to be nominated, right? Win or lose, the Brits produce the best television on television so, enjoy the night.

  • Does Damian Lewis not count as a UK import? Or is his name not bolded since Homeland is not made by BBC/PBS?

    • Carrie:

Thanks for the heads up. Unfortunately, just a late night oversight. Will correct asap.
