Turns out the small screen isn’t the only place that Queen Victoria and Queen Elizabeth II found themselves fighting for audience in 2017. With Victoria currently in the middle of series 2 as part of PBS’ long-running Masterpiece series and Netflix’ The Crown looking ahead to series 3 sometime in late 2018, the dueling British monarch series have found a new home in which they are competed for eyeballs in 2017 — Wikipedia!

Thanks to an increase in web searches surrounding The Crown, Queen Elizabeth II’s Wikipedia page was the third-most viewed page in 2017 with over 19-million views. Queen Victoria web searches coinciding with the ITV and PBS broadcast of Victoria totaled more than 14-million hits, good for the 13th most-viewed page. Victoria and Elizabeth weren’t the only royals to garner interest with Princess Margaret coming in at 37th and Prince Philip ranking 44th.

Even Meghan Markle, the American actress and soon-to-be member of the British royal family, generated almost 17 million Wikipedia hits (good for 5th place) following the announcement of her May 2018 marriage to Prince Harry.
