‘Whitechapel’ added to public television’s stellar line-up of drama

Our collective kid-in-a-candy-store/cup-runneth-over drama days continue with the news that the Rupert Penry-Jones series, Whitechapel, will find it’s way to public television in America in the not-too-distant future. Produced by Carnival Films, who also did that little series you may have heard of, Downton Abbey, Whitechapel follows detectives in the Whitechapel district of London as they deal with a […]

Michael Kitchen returns in new set of Foyle’s War

This is getting to be a bit like being a kid in a candy story. The first weekend/full week of 2015 has brought telly viewers on both sides of the pond some brilliant drama. Last night, in particular, was drama gold no matter which side of the Atlantic you found yourself on. West of the […]

First look at ‘Death in Paradise’ S4 set for early 2015 return

A little over a year ago, Kris Marshall was faced with the daunting task of replacing Ben Miller as the principle character in Death in Paradise, the BBC comedy/mystery/drama set on the fictional Caribbean island of Saint Marie. Marshall took over as the island’s new lead detective, DI Humphrey Goodman after his predecessor was found with an […]

    #221back is back!

Once again, I look at the calendar, see it’s the day after Thanksgiving yet it has to be Christmas! It may be Black Friday to some but stay with me, it’s definitely the day before Boxing Day. Why, you ask? Really simple if you happen to follow Sue Vertue on Twitter. It was a simple […]

‘Downton 221bey’ anyone? Hey, it could happen….

Now THIS is what makes the Internets interesting. Since 2010, the desire and hope there would be a Sherlock/Downton Abbey crossover has been an on-again, off-again trending topic on Twitter. I recognize most of Planet Earth would rather see Benedict Cumberbatch’s Sherlock step out of the TARDIS but, somehow, seeing Sherlock match wits with the […]

'Happy Valley' to 'Grantchester' was quite a change for James Norton

After binge-watching Sally Wainwright’s amazing series, Happy Valley, which starred Sarah Lancashire and Steve Pemberton, I began to see the haunting figure of Tommie Lee Royce on every street corner. Played brilliantly by James Norton, Royce was the stereotypical tormented soul/psychopathic killer (if there is such a thing). Thankfully, to get that image out of my head, all I had to do was quickly fast forward to the premiere of ITV’s Grantchester earlier this month.

Illusionist Derren Brown enters Sherlock stars' mind palace

I’m afraid that one segment in tonight’s Stand Up to Cancer 2014 fundraising marathon to be broadcast on Channel 4 in the UK won’t go very far in satisfying those that are impatiently awaiting the next installment of Sherlock that is headed our way during Christmas 2015, but it is a bit of fun. Mentalist/Illusionist […]

Foyle's War creator/writer sets sights on Moriarty and James Bond

If David Tennant is the hardest working man in show business, then writer Anthony Horowitz has to be considered the hardest working man in the literary world. Aside from his countless novels written over the years, many will, no doubt, associate Horowitz with his screenwriting telly work on Robin of Sherwood, Agatha Christie’s Poirot and Murder Most Horrid, many of the early episodes of Midsomer Murders, a very well-crafted small-screen mini-series, Collision and, obviously, the creator/writer of Foyle’s War, starring Michael Kitchen and Honeysuckle Weeks.
