‘Endeavour’ to call it a day after 9 series!

Endeavour, the series which began as a single film a decade ago in 2012 to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Inspector Morse, will end its run after 33 episodes across nine seasons according to a special video statement from series producers Mammoth Screen and PBS Masterpiece. Season 8 will air in the U.S. on PBS Masterpiece between June 19 and July 3, followed by three more episodes for Season 9 which is currently filming in Oxford and will air in 2023.

A pre-Oompa-Loompas Willie Wonka heads to the big screen with an amazing cast in tow!

Full disclosure. Re-makes tend to scare me, whether it’s big or small screen. Pre-Endeavour, prequels used to scare me too. Neither really ever came close to meeting expectations based on the original until Shaun Evans brought a young Detective Constable Endeavour Morse to life during his early career with the Oxford City Police CID.

While I’m reserving judgement on an announced 2023 release of Wonka, given it will be really hard to touch Gene Wilder’s definitive 1971 portrayal of the iconic children’s literary character, recent announcements as to casting may just have me looking forward to this one.

Bad news — Joan Thursday is out for S7 of ‘Endeavour’. Good news — she’ll be back!

When the 7th series of Endeavour  premieres at 8p this coming Sunday on ITV, it will be without an integral member of the cast. Shaun Evans (Endeavour Morse) has revealed to RadioTimes.com that Joan Thursday, the daughter of Endeavour’s boss, Fred Thursday and played by Sara Vickers, would not be a part of the forthcoming series.
