While Sanditon might not have a life after series 1 just yet, ‘when’ it does, we can all collectively take a step back and thank the Sanditon Sisterhood, whose efforts on behalf of the series based on the unfinished Jane Austen novel of the same name continue be a clinic on creativity.

An official ‘Sanditon’ location guide as we wait (im)patiently for news of a 2nd series

As the days, hours and minutes continue to slowly tick off with Sanditon-Nation awaiting word on whether or not we will return to the ‘finest resort on the south coast’, here are a few bits courtesy of PBS’ Masterpiece series that will, hopefully, pass the time and make the wait a bit easier even if it is an ever so slight diversion. While there is no news of a 2nd season just yet, word is things could be heating up in the days to come.

Fondly looking back at a pre-coronavirus trip to London when travel was easy….

As Planet Earth begins to slowly emerge from almost 3 months of ‘sheltering at home’ and, if you’re like me, you find yourself wanting to travel more than ever and living in the ‘you can’t travel so all you want to do is travel’ nightmare. As airlines and hotels attempt to get back to where […]

Abbey Road Crosswalk finally gets a quick makeover during COVID-19 London lockdown

Recently, a highway maintenance crew in London took advantage of the London lockdown due to COVID-19 and gave the iconic Abbey Road crosswalk in front of Abbey Road Studios a quick makeover. The original photo which gave the famed intersection its notoriety was taken on the morning on August 8, 1969, when the Beatles spent their time walking back and forth for a photoshoot for their ‘Abbey Road’ album cover.

Happy Birthday, George Harrison — 25 February 1943

Sometimes known as ‘the quiet Beatle’, George Harrison would have been 77 years young today. The Liverpool-born musician, singer-songwriter, music and film producer and, oh yeah, lead guitarist of the Beatles passed away in November 2001 of lung cancer at the very young age of 58.  While most Beatles fans will immediately identify with songs written […]

Tempting fate, Tellyspotting survives the Charlie-Gibbs Fracture Zone, once again, on the way to BBC Showcase 2020!

As your head hit the pillow Thursday evening, Tellyspotting had begun the annual nine hour trek to London followed by a two and a half hour train journey to Liverpool for BBC Showcase 2020. Overall, a pretty nondescript flight, which is a good thing. The highlight, oddly, was when the pilot again pointed out that we […]

You don’t have to be Brad or Janet to spend the night at the Oakley Court where Rocky Horror was filmed!

Unfortunately, I’m not sure the owners of the Oakley Court Luxury Hotel in Bray, England can guarantee there is anything on the slab to see (if you come up to the lab, that is) or that you’ll learn to do the Time Warp but you can now stay in the old English manor where a number […]

Strawberry Field gates re-open to the delight of Beatles fans worldwide

Strawberry Field, the Salvation Army children’s home in Liverpool that inspired John Lennon to write the Beatles classic “Strawberry Fields Forever,” has reopened its doors to tourists for the first time in decades. In addition to it being a worldwide tourist destination, the Salvation Army has turned the location into a hub to help young adults with learning disabilities, the Steps To Work program.

Making our way back to central London with a stop at the ‘Palace of the King’ before calling it a day!

While it was, admittedly, hard to leave the ice cream of Sidmouth and then also having to wave goodbye to Lady Grey of the DeVere Tortworth Court Hotel, the idea of walking the grounds of Hampton Court Palace as part of the next leg of the To the Manor Born KERA Tour of England tour somehow made everything more than tolerable.
