Being Human, season 3 – behind the scenes
While it’s not ‘officially’ 2011 as of yet, doesn’t mean we can’t set our sights on several series that premiere during the first part of the new year. You already know about Downton Abbey and Upstairs Downstairs, which as a reminder, transmits tonight (Boxing Day) in the UK. A placeholder note to the U.S. that Downton Abbey premieres on January 9, 2011 and Upstairs Downstairs on April 10, 2011, both on PBS as part of the Masterpiece series.
As we barrel towards 2011, my sights are now set on the premiere of the third season of Being Human. To be perfectly upfront and clear here, I’m NOT talking about the American re-make that is premiering on the SyFy Channel in January. Insert my usual why does American television feel the need to re-make British television comment here. It’s not even only the comedies that don’t measure up. Need I mention AMC’s re-make of The Prisoner? I didn’t think so.
The brilliant original BBC series, which stars Aidan Turner (Mitchell), Russell Tovey (George) and Lenora Crichlow (Annie) has finished filming the third season (now set in Cardiff) and is set for telecast in early 2011 in the UK on BBC Three. For those that don’t know the story, it’s not quite as simple as boy meets girl, etc. It is, however, merely a vampire, a werewolf and a ghost get a flat in Bristol together. Sounds as simple so far, right? It does get a bit more difficult when they try to live a normal life in Bristol. If you do know the story, hopefully, you agree on the greatness of it. Unfortunately, it will be a bit before season three gets to the States so here’s some behind-the-scenes clips to tide you over until then.
