007 to get a new "M" after Judi Dench departure in Skyfall?
Skyfall spoiler alert!
What has been rumored for a number of months now, apparently, will become reality when Dame Judi Dench, the M we have come accustomed to since her initial appearance in the 1995 James Bond film, GoldenEye, meets her death. With Skyfall set to be her 7th film as James Bond’s boss, Dench has reportedly just finished filming her death scenes, according to the UK Daily Star.
In addition, early rumors that have now escalated into full-fledged ‘anonymous production team reports from the set’ have Ralph Fiennes, the former He Who Must Not Be Named, taking over as the new M. As the story unfolds, Bond’s loyalty to M is challenged over secrets from her past. MI6 is attacked and Bond must solve the threat alone. Fiennes’ character, at this point, is only credited as ‘a government agent’ which does nothing more than continue to fuel the speculation that he will become the new Head of Secret Intelligence Service or MI6.
Skyfall, with Daniel Craig returning as 007, is set to premiere on 28 October, 2012.
