Only ‘Rockstar’ Dolly can reunite Paul and Ringo for ‘Let It Be’

Those of you who are P1 readers of Tellyspotting are probably more than familiar with my belief that remakes are generally no where near as good as the original. This generally holds true for a majority of musicians who feel the need to cover other musicians’ original material. This especially holds true when you are talking about covering the greatness of the Beatles.

That said, I may have to alter my tune (sorry about that) when it comes to Dolly Parton’s most recent cover release of Paul McCartney’s Let It Be ballad as part of her upcoming Rockstar album. Not only are we talking about the icon that is Dolly Parton but she was able to reunite Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr for the track. And, if that wasn’t enough, she somehow managed to grab the talents of Peter Frampton and Fleetwood Mac’s Mick Fleetwood to appear on the track also!

Parton teamed up with an all-star roster of musicians for the 30-song collection which includes 9 original tracks and 21 iconic rock anthems, including covers of Queen’s “We Will Rock You/We Are the Champions” and Heart’s “Magic Man,” featuring Ann Wilson.

Rockstar will be available as a 4 LP set, 2 CD set, digital download and on all streaming services. Set to drop on November 17, Rockstar is Parton’s 49th (that’s not a typo) studio album. It’s no wonder she was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame this past year!
