As temperatures begin to dip below triple digits, visions of Fall and beyond are beginning to enter our collective mind palaces with many people thinking of January 2025 and the series 5 premiere of All Creatures Great and Small on PBS beginning January 12, 2025 at 9pET/8pCT.

Nicholas Ralph returns for Season 5 as vet James Herriot alongside Samuel West (Mr. Selfridge, Howards End) as his mercurial mentor Siegfried Farnon. Callum Woodhouse (The Durrells in Corfu) returns to his role as Tristan Farnon, Siegfried’s mischievous brother who has been serving in the Royal Army Veterinary Corps. Anna Madeley (Mr. Selfridge) returns as the matriarch of Skeldale House Mrs. Hall, along with Rachel Shenton as the charismatic Helen Herriot. James Anthony-Rose also reappears as Richard Carmody. Also returning is Patricia Hodge (Downton Abbey, Miranda) as Mrs Pumphrey, and her pampered Pekingese Tricki (as, herself).

While I have never been a big fan of remakes, reboots or sequels, I have to say even with the biggest of wellington boots to fill, the new All Creatures Great and Small has knocked it out of the park for four series now. Definitely looking forward so series 5 with the knowledge that series 6 has already been commissioned for a 2026 release!

All Creatures Great and Small Season 5 will premiere on MASTERPIECE on PBS beginning January 12, 2025.
