As police clean up the city, post-CSI, it’s time for….’The Cleaner’!
It’s the cops’ job to clean up the city, but it’s Wicky’s job to clean up the crime scenes…after CSI finishes, of course. BAFTA-winner Greg Davies writes and stars in The Cleaner, a bit of a dark comedy coming to a public television station near you beginning in April.
Wicky (Davies) is a government-certified crime scene cleaner. When the detectives are done, he moves in, armed with his bleach, pristine-white rags, biohazard buckets, scrubbing brushes and an endless supply of protective clothing. His job brings him into contact with the strangest people: those who knew the victims, and sometimes even the killers themselves.
Unfortunately, for him, he’s a rather chatty man. Instead of his primary responsibility for the removal of any signs of death, injury or other biohazard debris from crime scenes, he tends to gossip more than he cleans.
Aside from the brilliant writing and the greatness of Greg Davies, you’ll immediately recognize a number of familiar faces crossing the path of ‘the cleaner’ for any number of reasons such as Helena Bonham Carter, David Mitchell (Upstart Crow), Stephanie Cole (Waiting for God, Doc Martin), James Bolam (New Tricks), Georgie Glen (Call the Midwife) and Steve Pemberton (League of Gentlemen, Whitechapel) to name just a few.
Based on the multi-award-winning German cult hit Der Tatortreiniger, The Cleaner comes to your local public television station courtesy of American Public Television beginning this April. Definitely check it out.
