BBC targets January 2012 for Sherlock 2 premiere
With the long-awaited premiere of Sherlock 2 settled in the U.S. for Sunday, May 6, 2012 as part of PBS’ Masterpiece series, Friday’s low key announcement that the series would be available for purchase on Amazon UK beginning 5 March 2012 had some significance with respect to the scheduling of the UK broadcast on the BBC.
Doing a bit of work that would make Sherlock proud, given the timing between when series one was released on DVD in the UK and when it was originally broadcast, puts the premiere on the BBC sometime in early January 2012.
A quick Sherlock 2 reminder no matter which side of the pond you’re on. The three, 90-minute, episodes have the early working titles of Scandal in Belgravia, Hounds of the Baskerville and The Reichenbach Fall. Series co-creator, Steven Moffat, pens Scandal in Belgravia with his co-creator-in-crime, Mark Gatiss, writing the Hounds of the Baskerville and Stephen Thompson scripting The Reichenbach Fall.
Be there, early January 2012 in the UK and May 6, 2012 in the U.S. I know I will.
