Live By Request detour for Tellyspotting

On: November 9, 2009,  By: Bill Young

Tellyspotting had a minor 48-hour detour from “all things British” to participate in television ‘this side of the pond’ over the weekend in Los Angeles and the broadcast of Live By Request: John Fogerty seen across the country on PBS (and KERA) Saturday night. In a nutshell, an incredible concept put together by a stellar group of professionals. From everyone involved at PBS, Mediapush Entertainment, Line By Line Productions and the Shrine Expo Hall in Los Angeles, this was a great convergence of music and live TV.

John Fogerty and the Blue Ridge Rangers

IMG_2385Saturday was nothing short of a magical night as John Fogerty and the talents of Kenneth Aronoff, Billy Burnette, Jason Mowery, Matt Nolen, Hunter Perrin, David Santos and James Pennebaker were centerstage of a 2-hour high energy show in which the set list was determined by viewers requesting via Twitter, facebook, e-mail and even a Skype request.

Wherever you were on Saturday night, I hope you were able to see the program and had a chance to call in a request and, hopefully, financially support the program on PBS which will send message that you’d like to see more concert performances like this. If you saw the program, I’d love to know what you thought. I’ll leave you with a few flickr photos from rehearsal on Friday and the performance on Saturday and surprisingly quick teardown after the show on the Tellyspotting flickr page. Enjoy.

A once-in-a-lifetime evening that needs to happen with more frequency on PBS. Thanks, Jerry, Laura, Joe, Rudy and everyone involved for the experience.

That said, time to get back to the mission of Tellyspotting and our focus on British television and beyond. Cheers!
