British comedy duo's – have a favorite?

British comedy has seen a number of changes over the years. Whether it takes the form of stand-up, sketch or situation comedy, it’s all comedy that draws on the past and the roots of comedy in general.

One can’t help but think of the comedy troupes like Monty Python, The Goodies and The Young Ones when thinking of the early days of sketch comedy. Another variety of British comedy featured single performers featured in sketch comedy such as Dick Emery, Dave Allen and Benny Hill.

Somewhat overlooked are the comedy duo’s that have provided endless hours of entertainment from the beginnings of  Peter Cook and Dudley Moore right up to today with the likes of Alexander Armstrong and Ben Miller. Much more prevalent in the UK, comedy duo’s don’t seem to be as popular in the U.S. these days given that the last comedy duo that comes to mind would be Dean Martin and Jerry Lewis. Thought it would be interesting to look back at some of the classic British comedy duo’s and see just how timeless their comedy is. Have an all-time favorite? Maybe one not listed?

Sorry, there are no polls available at the moment.
