Dunder-Mifflen to hire David Brent?
Fresh from his brilliant stint as host of the 2011 Golden Globes, word is that Ricky Gervais, alias, David Brent, has had enough of Michael Scott and is set to show everyone at Dunder-Mifflen just how it’s done at the Wernham Hogg Paper Company in Slough. While Gervais has, for seven seasons, retained the executive producer title for the U.S. version of the mega-hit, The Office, co-created by he and Stephen Merchant, he has never appeared on the program until now. The program is set for a Thursday, January 27 broadcast on NBC.
I have to say this before I let it go regarding Gervais’ humor on the Golden Globes. What’s the big deal here? Robin Williams or Billy Crystal could and would have said the same jokes and everyone would have screamed genius.
I found it interesting that many of the supposedly upset actor comments made during the Golden Globe awards show about the targeted jokes seemed SCRIPTED so, unless, I’m really missing something, I’m thinking this was nothing more than a bit to get more people talking for more days about the Globes than normal.
