Czech Republic Olympic team courts unlikely spokesperson

And Now for Something Completely Different

Touting his Olympic experience, former Monty Python and Fawlty Towers star, John Cleese, finds himself in the Czech Republic this week where he will become the face of the Czech Republic Olympic Team in all advertising leading up to the London 2012 games. Cleese, who says that the Czech and the English share a similar sense of humor will tout the attributes of the Czech team while poking fun at the stereotypical British gentlemen who wear bowler hats and carry sun umbrellas.

Cleese is no stranger to Olympic competition, participating, during his Python days, in the 100m dash for people with no sense of direction, the 3000m steeple chase for people who think they are chickens and the 200m freestyle race for non-swimmers.
