Filming has commenced at Pinewood Studios on Tim Burton’s Dark Shadows adaptation starring Johnny Depp, Michelle Pfeiffer and Helena Bonham Carter. Having now added Jonny Lee Miller (Trainspotting, Frankenstein at the National Theatre) and Chloe Moretz, the 60’s cult gothic vampire TV soap opera is shooting in London lots of rumors floating around the moors about the plot. This just in….

Depp, who will star as Barnabas Collins, a rich and powerful playboy in the 1700’s…until he makes the grave mistake of breaking the heart of Angelique Brouchard (Eva Green). A witch, in every sense of the word, Angelique dooms him to a fate worse than death: turning him into a vampire, and then burying him alive.Barnabas is inadvertently freed from his tomb and emerges into the very changed world of 1972. He returns to Collinwood Manor to find that his once-grand estate has fallen into ruin. The dysfunctional remnants of the Collins family have fared little better, each harboring their own dark secrets. Matriarch Elizabeth Collins Stoddard (Michelle Pfeiffer) has called upon live-in psychiatrist, Dr. Julia Hoffman (Helena Bonham Carter), to help with her family troubles.

In addition to the brilliance of Danny Elfman, who will score the film, other production notables that will make this something not to be missed for all those that grew up shutting the curtains around 4:00pm each day after school to watch the original Dan Curtis classic will be Oscar-winning production designer Rick Heinrichs (Sleepy Hollow), Oscar-winning costume designer Colleen Atwood (Sweeney Todd, Alice in Wonderland) and editor Chris Lebenzon (Unstoppable, Corpse Bride).
