Evening Standard Theatre Awards

Frankenstein stars Benedict Cumberbatch and Jonny Lee Miller were named joint winners of the best actor award at the Evening Standard Theatre Awards this past Sunday. Cumberbatch and Miller alternated in the roles of Frankenstein and the Creature in Danny Boyle’s National Theatre production of the Mary Shelley classic. Having seen Jonny Lee Miller as the Creature at the National Theatre back in March 2011 and Cumberbatch as the Creature on the big screen several months later, this was a no-brainer. While we can’t claim responsibility for this, we did suggest in a recent post that the two brilliant actors should share the award. Coincidence? Maybe, maybe not.
