Christopher Lloyd added to U.S. version of Only Fools and Horses

The genius that is Christopher Lloyd has been added to the cast of the upcoming U.S. pilot remake of the all-time British situation comedy icon, Only Fools and Horses. You may remember an earlier post announcing the remake and that John Leguizamo had been cast as the American Del Boy. The rest of the cast announcements have started to surface so it’s looking like this is getting closer to reality than many would care to believe, David Jason included.

Dustin Ybarra (We Bought a Zoo, Gay Dude) has now been cast as Del Boy’s younger brother Rodney, played brilliantly by Nicholas Lyndhurst in the British version and BJ Bales (Not Another Not Another Movie, Happy Endings) will play Trigger. Word is that the role of Trigger will take on a much greater presence in the U.S. series becoming more of a con man and rival to the Trotters than in the original British version role made famous by Roger Lloyd Pack.

So far, nothing has changed my mind to where I’m looking forward to this U.S. remake until…..

The greatness of Christopher Lloyd (Taxi, Back to the Future) will assume the role of the Trotter’s Grandad, made famous by Leonard Pearce in the British version. Given that the role of the Trotter’s Grandad was much more of a supporting role, hopefully, producers will find a way to elevate Lloyd’s presence and take advantage of his genius capabilities. Can’t wait to see if this might morph into a combination of Reverend Jim and Doc Brown. Now, I’m interested…I think.

Well, at least that is good news.  Love Christopher Lloyd ever since Taxi.  His Jim was brilliant.

    • did He say ”Splonge”?

i’m not sure about this, as I like the British version, but it seems 2B an indication how American sitcom comedy continues to get desperate in finding quality from other sources because they can’t come up with anything in-house
