The Daleks are back so say 'sneaky pictures from the set'
Save for the recent announcement of the Doctor’s new companion, Jenna-Louise Coleman, the leaks have been few and far between so far with respect to the newest series of Doctor Who, set for a Fall 2012 premiere on BBC One. These days, you never know where the Daleks may turn up so I think it’s probably relatively safe to say that viewers can expect to see the return of perhaps the Doctor’s most legendary foe as evidenced by a recent visit from the Royal Family.
Word from the ‘official’ Doctor Who website, where the sneaky pictures fresh from the set are being housed, show the Daleks being wheeled before the cameras once again. I know, you thought that ”old Daleks” were destroyed and replaced by a rainbow colored ”new paradigm” in ‘Victory of the Daleks’. Enter show runner, Steven Moffat, who explained the return: ”We’re not going to lose the old Daleks. We’re keeping them. They’re coming back. We’ll just use them all at once, and have different ranks. All I’ve done is give the Daleks an officer class.”
As you can see, the ‘sneaky pictures’ recently released by the BBC are massive close-ups so only true Who fans will recognize them as Daleks. They seem to reveal various possibilities such as a gun, a broken plunger and a World War II-era Dalek. More ‘official shots’ can be found on the official Doctor Who website. However close, they still can set the world of the Internets on fire with speculation as to which designs will be used and to what extent. Whatever design, the Queen seems to be keenly aware of their existence. Wonder which one she’d liked to see…stay tuned!
