Ah-ha! Alan Partridge movie set to begin
With his beloved Rover and Lexus cars and Bang & Olufsen stereo system in tow, Alan Partridge, host of Mid Morning Matters on North Norfolk Digital radio, will debut on the big screen in 2013. With the very creative working title of The Alan Partridge Movie, the film will be exec produced by Armando Iannucci, one of the creators of the Alan Partridge character along with Steve Coogan, Richard Herring and Stewart Lee, and directed by Father Ted director Declan Lowney.
The big screen debut follows the brilliant first season of Coogan’s Mid Morning Matters, which is currently in production on series two, and will feature Partridge, as usual, with the whole world ahead of him in his mind…a world, according to a Radio Times interview with Iannucci that will remain in the UK. “…The ideas we’ve come up with are very much Alan in the UK and his ideas of what he could be. We don’t see Alan, for example, getting Simon Cowell’s spot on American Idol and going over there. That’s too good for Alan. Alan’s future is always brighter in his head than it is in the real world”, said Iannucci.
For those few that have not seen or do not remember the brilliance that is Alan Partridge. After that, check out Coogan in The Trip with Rob Brydon. The dueling impressions of Michael Caine and Woody Allen are worth the price of admission. Cheers.
