Tom Hiddleston and Stephen Colbert ‘See the Light’
Every once in awhile, there are those moments in time that you come to realize the Internets are a good thing. A perfect example surfaced this week, hidden deep amongst the endless cat videos, was Tom Hiddleston, fresh off his brilliant appearance in The Night Manager, appearing on CBS’ The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.
Hiddleston (The Avengers, Thor, War Horse, Woody Allen’s Midnight in Paris and the BBC’s Hollow Crown series) stars as country music legend Hank Williams in the recently released film, I Saw the Light, which showcases Williams’ sudden rise to fame and subsequent struggle with addiction before his tragic death in 1953.
After speaking to Colbert about Williams’ pseudonym Luke the Drifter, learning to sing, he was reluctantly placed in the center of what would become ‘video gold’ when Colbert started humming the ‘King of the Hillbillies’ artistic masterpiece, “I Saw The Light”. When the band started playing, Hiddleston couldn’t resist and they sang a rather beautiful duet and, the rest is history and why the Internets were invented.
