PBS to get ‘Vicious’ one final time in June with special series finale

Vicious, the British sitcom sporting the massive star power duo of Sirs Ian McKellen and Derek Jacobi, Frances de la Tour, Iwan Rheon, Celia Imrie and Marcia Warren, returns for a series finale that will follow a year in the lives of Freddie (McKellen) and Stuart (Jacobi). It premieres on Sunday, June 19th at 8 p.m. ET/PT only on PBS.

Vicious series finale airs June 19 on PBS

The end of series 2 saw Freddie and Stuart marry after more than 50 years together. While the elderly gay couple were in a perpetual love/hate relationship, one immediately got the sense that the scales tipped way more towards the love portion than the hate portion of the equation.

Given the unexplained and unexpected decision to not commission a third series of Home Fires earlier this week, it’s nice to see Vicious fans will get a bit of closure to Freddie and Stuart’s relationship. Thankfully, Balthazar made it through the wedding. Unfortunately, the same can’t be said for Stuart’s mum.

Vicious was created by playwright Mark Ravenhill and is written and executive produced by Gary Janetti, whose credits also include Family Guy and Will & Grace. Filmed at The London Studios late December of last year, the Vicious special is directed by Red Dwarf series I-IV and VII-VIII director, Ed Bye.

Vicious series finale premieres Sunday, June 19th at 8 p.m. ET/PT on PBS.
