Looking for that once-in-a-lifetime gift for the Downton Abbey super fan in the family? If so, how about booking a magical summer evening on the stunning grounds of Highclere Castle, listening to beautiful music from the series performed by the Chamber Orchestra of London?
With the television show’s composer John Lunn on piano, the concert will take place on June 22, 2019, and will be hosted by actor Jim Carter, in character as the beloved Mr. Carson.
Over the course of the evening, Mr. Carson will look back over his time at Downton Abbey and remember the many characters that filled the home over the years, from extended family and friends to VIPs and house staff members.
Carson will also recall some of the most significant events that took place in the house, each time showing a rich collection of clips and montages on high definition screens from the series to illustrate the lives, loves and losses from across all six seasons. The Telegraph. “There was a fair bit of live music in the piece — a jazz band, bands at balls and parties — and this will bring it to the forefront.”
He added, “It will be a nice link between the series finishing and the film opening in September, and it will hopefully get people excited for the film.”
To bring Mr. Carson’s stories and the clips vividly to life, the orchestra will play songs from the beautiful soundtrack, which was composed by John Lunn. The orchestra will also be accompanied by special guest singers for songs such as “I’ll Count The Days” and “If You Were The Only Girl In The World.”
If you find yourself in London this June or feel the need to head that way, Highclere Castle lies to the west of the city, not far from the M4 and Newbury. Oxford and Birmingham are to the north, Winchester and Southampton to the south.
