Tim Burton's Dark Shadows – coming May 11
Pinewood Studios
Since the mid-30’s, some of the greatest films of all-time have been a part of Pinewood Studios in the UK. Currently filming on the 007 Stage is the newest Bond film, Skyfall with Daniel Craig and Dame Judi Dench. Just this past year, Pinewood has been the home to the likes of Sherlock Holmes: Game of Shadows, Ridley Scott’s Prometheus, the BBC One drama, New Tricks, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Hugo, The Woman in Black, Peter Jackson’s The Hobbit and Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides. Coming up this year will be Les Miserables, directed by Tom Hooper, Academy Award winner director of The King’s Speech.
Not that all of these pale in comparison to what’s coming but…Pinewood was also the home this past year for the long-awaited Tim Burton redo of the 60’s television classic, Dark Shadows. Judging from the trailer below, this is going to be so great, so Tim Burton and so Johnny Depp.
Tim Burton’s Dark Shadows – coming May 11
Filmed entirely in the UK, the cult classic television series comes to the big screen on 11 May. Starring the greatness of Johnny Depp, Michelle Pfeiffer, Helena Bonham Carter, Eva Green, Jackie Earle Haley and Jonny Lee Miller, Burton’s Dark Shadows tells the story of vampire Barnabas Collins, who returns to his ancestral home only to encounter a group of relatively dysfunctional family members. Unfortunately, for Barnabas, he left Liverpool in 1752 but doesn’t make it to Collinsport, Maine until 1972.
The cool thing about the film, besides the fact that it’s the greatness of Burton and Depp, is that four cast members from the original 60’s television series, Jonathan Frid (Barnabas), Kathryn Leigh Scott (Maggie Evans and Josette du Pres), Lara Parker (Angelique) and David Selby (Quentin Collins) spent several days at Pinewood filming cameos….along with Alice Cooper.
What do you think? Are you ready for some Dark Shadows on May 11?
