Richard E. Grant joins Doctor Who for Christmas
Richard E. Grant joins Doctor Who cast for Christmas special
Aside from the fact that it is, yet again, another 100+ degree day across most of the U.S. this summer, I so can’t wait for December and this year’s Doctor Who Christmas special. In addition to the fact that Jenna-Louise Coleman will debut as the Doctor’s new companion, it was announced at midnight this past Saturday that Richard E. Grant will join the cast as a villain alongside Silent Witness star, Tom Ward. Since filming on the Christmas special began Sunday, Grant’s villainous role was announced to avoid any spoilers leaking out from filming.
Grant’s first Doctor Who appearance (sort of) was in 1999 during a brilliant Comic Relief feature, ‘The Curse of the Fatal Death’, alongside Rowan Atkinson, Hugh Grant, Joanna Lumley and Julia Sawalha. Interesting tidbit about this episode is that it was the first written and produced by current showrunner, Steven Moffat.
Known throughout the UK as the Withnail and I acting legend, Richard E. Grant is greatness, pure and simple. I may just have to take part in a little Posh Nosh viewing marathon in the not-too-distant future to pass the time until Christmas.
