Filming underway on 5th series of ‘Shakespeare & Hathaway: Private Investigators’
Jo Joyner and Mark Benton will reprise their roles for series 5 of Shakespeare and Hathaway, alongside Patrick Walshe McBride (Dracula), who plays aspiring actor and perpetual understudy Sebastian Brudenell as filming is underway in the cobblestone streets of Stratford-Upon-Avon.
It’s been almost three years since we left Lu and Frank so it’s understandable that Joyner would be just a tad bit excited for the series to return. “I’m so excited to be stepping back into Luella’s bright and fluffy shoes!” said Joyner. “We have such loyal and brilliant fans who have been asking us daily if we’ll ever be back, so it’s wonderful to finally be able to say yes! I can’t wait to see Lu, Frank and Sebastian cracking more countryside crimes whilst squabbling fondly in series 5.”
Equally as excited, Mark Benton added: “I’m so thrilled to be making the show again. The reaction was phenomenal and hopefully series five will be even better. I can’t wait.”
What started out seven years and 40 episodes ago with ex-Detective Inspector (DI) Frank Hathaway turned debt-laden private investigator meeting one ex-hairdresser Luella Shakespeare when she employs him to investigate the fiancé she met online has now become one of the highest viewed series coing out of the BBC Daytime unit.
Series 5 of Shakespeare & Hathaway will premiere exclusively on UKTV’s specialist crime drama channel, Alibi, in 2025 with a later launch on the BBC and iPlayer and, hopefully, a public television broadcast not long after.
